First of all, the collection agency in charge of your account will try to call you. But, most people just don't answer. Let the answering machine eat the call. Some people disconnect their house phone entirely and use the only phone numbers that the collection agencies or creditors don't know about. Others just hang up if they happen to pick up on the calls from the collection agencies. Collection agencies will try calling several times a day everyday. It's their game plan but most of the time they use a computer to dial and if someone picks up it will usually take awhile for someone to actually come to the phone.

Another way to avoid talking to collection agencies is to move altogether and not leave a forward address. This is like running away from debt and while you can avoid talking to collection agencies this way, nothing good will come of it. You need a plan of how to deal with collection agencies.
